CMC Networks unveils Air Connect for businesses

CMC Networks, a leading global Tier 1 service provider, has unveiled its Air Connect solution aimed at delivering wireless connectivity to businesses throughout South Africa

Air Connect represents a revolutionary Wireless to the Business (WTTB) solution designed to offer dependable, high-speed connectivity and ensure business continuity, even in some of the most demanding environments worldwide. Air Connect harnesses radio wave technology to establish robust and stable connections across diverse landscapes in South Africa, including rural farmlands, sparse deserts, and rugged terrains.

By leveraging wireless technology, Air Connect eliminates the costs, complexities, and lengthy deployment times typically associated with conventional wired connections like fiber optics. This flexibility extends to the service’s speed capabilities, ranging from 5Mbps to 500Mbps and beyond, tailored to meet the unique requirements of each business.

“Air Connect is a very exciting solution for us, and a real game-changer for our customers in South Africa,” said Marisa Trisolino, CEO at CMC Networks. “Our aim is to power the next era of digital adoption across Africa, and Air Connect is a huge step forward in doing so. It provides our customers with a wider selection of connectivity options to add redundancy to their networks, helping to keep their businesses up and running no matter the circumstances.”

Meeting South Africa’s connectivity needs

Air Connect boasts rapid installation, with a service level objective (SLO) of 3 to 10 days. This swift deployment makes it an invaluable resource for clients awaiting fiber optic infrastructure, providing a rapid interim solution to minimize network downtime.

Furthermore, Air Connect can seamlessly transition into an active backup following the completion of fiber rollout, enhancing network resilience, redundancy, and uptime, particularly in software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN) overlay deployments.

“Air Connect is a fully scalable solution to fit our customers’ unique business needs, with rapid installation, high-speed connectivity, increased network uptime and reliability,” said Geoff Dornan, chief technical officer at CMC Networks. “We’re continually expanding our portfolio to meet our customers’ changing requirements, so that they can reach their business objectives without being delayed by connectivity.”

With over three decades of innovation in Africa, CMC Networks boasts the largest pan-African network, servicing 51 out of 54 countries on the continent and 12 countries in the Middle East. Additionally, the company maintains regional hubs in key interconnect locations across Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region, solidifying its position as a leader in global connectivity solutions.
