Caterpillar upgrades PM300 Cold Planer Series

Caterpillar has unveiled multiple design enhancements to tis PM310, PM312 and PM313 Cold Planers to boost their performance, operator comfort and milling power

The PM300 Series, which integrate the Cat C9.3B engine to deliver increased gross power and more available torque, is built to excel in small to medium applications where a compact machine with high production capabilities is required. The Cat9.3B engine – available in a variety of configurations to meet varying emission standards – offers a gross power rating of 256kW and features a lower complexity and improved electronic, fuel and air systems. Users will also appreciate easier access to engine oil filters, while multi-piece engine filters reduce waste and lower replacement costs.

Operator comfort and worksite safety has been targeted through the introduction of features such as wide-dispersion LED working and LED roading light options. An exhaust deflector option – which can be stowed when not in use – redirects exhaust away from buildings and ground personnel and optional dust abatement ducting has been redesigned to further increase sealing and suction.

Enhanced planer performance

Caterpillar has also highlighted the redesign of the transition flashing between primary and loading conveyors for the PM300 series. This improves containment of material and reduces build-up on the front machine frame.

Containment of material is achieved through feature enhancements to the right-hand side plate, chamber-to-conveyor sealing and loading conveyor belt sealing. Front track deflectors in front of the drive motors offer additional protection from debris impact and build-up, thus improving service life.

On the power side, the global company has just joined the Africa Data Centres Association and spotlighted its range of diesel and gas gensets to support such facilities.
