HD Hyundai Construction Equipment is investing in a revised regional management structure, new uptime and machine customisation centres, and the building of a dedicated product demonstration area as part of a wide-ranging reorganisation of its European operations.
HD Hyundai is implementing a transformative organisational structure to strengthen connections with markets, dealers, and customers. This new approach aims to simplify the ordering process for machines, reduce lead times, and expand the range of customer-specific options. The changes will also ensure maximum availability of genuine spare parts and enhance the company’s industry-leading service and support capabilities.
As part of the Growing Closer Together initiative, the company is adopting a matrix organisational structure across its sales and aftermarket operations. This structure fosters closer collaboration with dealers and customers, aligning with specific regional market needs. By leveraging cross-functional and cross-business teams, HD Hyundai will enhance flexibility, accountability, and the efficient utilisation of resources. The new framework divides operations into five geographic regions: DACH (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), France/Benelux, UK/Ireland, Italy/Southern Europe, and Eastern/Northern Europe. This setup will enable faster decision-making, improved communication, and a deeper understanding of market-specific requirements.
HD Hyundai is also enhancing its EU-CUP machine customisation centre in Antwerp, Belgium. Traditionally, machines were shipped as stock units with dedicated booms and arms installed upon arrival. Now, standard machines will arrive without booms or arms, which will be shipped separately based on dealer orders. This allows the centre to assemble excavator and loader configurations tailored to customer needs, significantly reducing lead times. The facility will continue to provide customisation services, including tailored paintwork, the integration of advanced systems, and third-party components. A Material Requirement Planning system will forecast demand for modification parts, ensuring a steady supply and minimising delays.
To optimise machine uptime and operational efficiency, HD Hyundai is establishing a European Uptime Centre at its headquarters in Tessenderlo, Belgium. Using real-time data from the Hi-Mate telematics system, the centre will proactively notify customers about maintenance needs, monitor ongoing repairs, and provide regular health reports for machines under service agreements. This data-driven approach will help customers streamline operations, improve fuel efficiency, and reduce downtime.
HD Hyundai is further investing in a new demonstration area at its European headquarters. The purpose-designed 3,300 m² site will host dealer and customer visits, training events, product launches, and live equipment demonstrations. Grandstand seating will offer a comprehensive view of the equipment in action, showcasing the company’s latest innovations.
Dr. Hubertus Muenster, Director of Sales and Marketing, emphasized the customer-centric focus of these initiatives. “By rethinking our operations, we aim to enhance the customer experience at every stage—from machine ordering and customisation to operation and fleet management. Our goal is to ensure maximum uptime and deliver the best return on investment for our customers.”
