Technical talk hosted by SKF and SAIMechEsparks meaningful dialogue on the future of engineering

SKF South Africa, in collaboration with SAIMechE, hosted a compelling technical talk bringing together engineers, thought leaders and industry professionals for an evening of learning, networking, insight, innovation and forward-thinking discussions.

During the event, a lineup of experts representing SKF and SAIMechE, shared valuable, thought-provoking insights into the evolving landscape within the field of engineering. The distinguished panel of speakers included eight experts from SKF – Saien Rugdeo, Corle Grobler, Nthavela Makondo, Graeme Lloyd, Michael Mogagabe, Donatien Makopo, Janus Bezuidenhout and Simphiwe Siwela, along with Prof. Daniel Madyira from the University of Johannesburg.

“We explored a wide range of topics, from cutting-edge tools to sustainability breakthroughs, striking the perfect balance between meaningful connection and technical insight with the objective of sparking impactful conversations,” says Micaela Willers, Manager for power transmission and training at SKF South Africa.

Several key topics were spotlighted:

  • SKF’s commitment to fostering career development was highlighted through discussions on the SKF Bursary and SKF Trust Alumni, with an emphasis on the importance of continuous professional growth.
  • Real World Engineering addressed the different paths and opportunities available after becoming a Qualified Engineer in South Africa.
  •  Lubrication Reimagined offered a fresh perspective on lubrication as a critical system component.
  • Vibration Analysis explored SKF’srole in predictive maintenance and system reliability – It’s the future!
  • Sustainability in Action showcasedRecondOil’s Double Separation Technology as a game-changer in oil reuse and environmental impact.
  • Community & Connection provided attendees with an invaluable opportunity to engage with peers, ask tough questions and share ideas.
