The latest excavator models from Volvo CE have been redesigned to offer a more spacious and ergonomic experience, aligning with an ambitious new design concept aimed at delivering superior results for customers. These updates are driven by a modern operator environment featuring an improved human-machine interface (HMI), providing not only aesthetic appeal but also robust performance suited to the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s job sites.
Kurt Deleu, Head of Product Management Excavators, stated: “We’ve always taken pride in leading the market with our innovative excavator line. With this new range, we’re empowering customers to get even more out of their machines. The upgraded design significantly enhances the operator experience, enabling machine and human to deliver exceptional performance tailored to the demands of modern worksites.”
The first models to debut in Europe and Turkey include the EC500, EC400, and EC230 crawler excavators, all equipped with cutting-edge features designed to boost efficiency and operator comfort.
Enhanced Operator Experience The revamped operator environment provides more space and comfort, featuring a coolbox for storage, USB and Bluetooth connections for charging devices, playing music, and improving on-site communication. The improved HMI includes a keyless engine start and an always-on camera, promoting a safer and more productive workday.
Improved Fuel Efficiency and Lower TCO The new electro-hydraulic system uses intelligent technology to monitor operator movements through sensors, which send signals to the enhanced main control valve. This innovation ensures smoother, more precise control of the boom, bucket, and other attachments, resulting in more accurate digging and loading. These features not only improve fuel efficiency but also reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO).
Precision and Productivity Designed to help customers achieve more with less effort, the new excavators offer enhanced precision and speed. The electro-hydraulic system automates boom and bucket movements, reducing operator fatigue and increasing efficiency, enabling quicker cycle times with minimal input.
Safety First Operators can preset limits for the boom’s depth, height, and swing, ensuring tasks are carried out with maximum safety. This helps prevent contact with overhead or underground hazards such as power lines, pipes, cables, walls, or barriers, and most importantly, ensures the safety of humans on-site.
Volvo’s Smart View with Obstacle Classification provides 360° visibility of the machine’s surroundings, utilizing cameras and a new radar detection system. Powered by deep learning technology, this system alerts operators if objects or people are detected nearby, ensuring a safer work environment.
With these next-generation excavators, Volvo CE offers cutting-edge technology to enhance productivity, safety, and efficiency on modern job sites.
