Zambia and Angola Strengthen Bilateral Ties to Boost Trade, Security, and Regional Integration

Zambia and Angola have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including trade, infrastructure development, defence, and regional integration.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, delivered a special message from President Hakainde Hichilema to Angolan President João Lourenço during a visit to Luanda.

The message underscored Zambia’s desire to deepen collaboration with Angola in advancing mutual economic growth and regional stability.

Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Haimbe said the engagement focused on expanding cooperation in strategic areas that align with both countries’ development priorities.

He emphasised the importance of building upon the historic friendship and shared values that have long united Zambia and Angola.

“The message from President Hichilema highlighted the need to enhance cooperation in trade, infrastructure, defence, and regional integration. Strengthening our bilateral ties will help drive sustainable development and promote shared prosperity for our peoples,” Mr. Haimbe said.

The Zambian delegation included Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Jack Mwiimbu, Defence Permanent Secretary Maambo Haamaundu, and Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Dickson Matembo, along with other senior government officials.

Upon arrival in Luanda, the delegation was received by Zambia’s Chargé d’Affaires in Angola, Roster Kapaya, and Ambassador-Designate Elias Munshya.

The visit forms part of Zambia’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to reinforce partnerships with neighbouring countries in pursuit of economic transformation, peace, and regional cooperation within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
