– Pre-eminent African law firm Bowmans has once again been recognised for its deep understanding of the continent’s regulatory environment and contribution in solving its most complex legal challenges.
At the 2025 African Legal Awards ceremony, held in Johannesburg last night (5 September), the firm won the Property and Construction Team of the Year Award.
Bowmans won the award for its role in the USD 800 million Northern Cluster Wind Energy Project comprising three 140 MW wind farms – Umsinde, Khangela and Ishwati. A defining feature of the Northern Cluster is the shared grid infrastructure across all three wind farms, an uncommon and complex undertaking in the South African market.
Head of Projects, Energy and Infrastructure, Alessandra Pardini, says, ‘Our involvement in this project exemplifies the firm’s expertise in construction law, particularly in the mitigation of construction-related delay risks and the preservation of credit enhancements such as performance security.’
Through innovative structuring, meticulous negotiation, and a collaborative approach, Bowmans delivered exceptional value to its clients, setting a new standard for legal excellence in the South African renewable energy sector.
Chairman and senior partner Ezra Davids says, ‘As a pan-African firm, we’re proud to contribute to the matters and transactions that reflect Africa’s aspirations for an integrated and thriving continent-wide economy.’
