SRK Consulting spotlights women in industry

SRK Consulting South Africa, a leading mining consultancy firm, is commemorating the contributions made by women to the company’s success

This announcement comes as the company celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. It has embarked on a deliberate process to create an environment that is conducive to the success of its staff to better recognise their skills and better market these to clients. This is providing successful with the appointment of three trailblazing women as partners.

Principal engineering geologist Lyzandra Boshoff boasts a 20-year career in geotechnical engineering, tailings design, engineering geology, foundation investigations, mining geotechnical characterisation and mineral processing.

Philippa Burmeister, a principal environmental scientist at SRK, has spent over two decades in integrated environmental management, specialising in sustainability assessment using various environmental management tools. Philippa has recently focused on air quality and climate change, advising clients on innovative strategies for adapting to climate change risks and optimising their resource efficiency.

Monique du Toit is SRK’s human resources manager, and has managed the HR function at SRK since 2009. Monique has been instrumental in shifting the focus of the HR function to establishing a healthy culture, improving employee engagement and well-being, as well as managing the traditional compliance, employee/industrial relations, mediation policy development and process improvement functions. Her role also includes a strong focus on sharing best practices across our global practices.

Their appointment as partners shows the confidence that SRK Consulting has in its innovative impact – and the lasting legacy they are creating. It has reiterated that, as the organisation continues to evolve, these women will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the organisation.
